AAU Celebrates the Launch of Three Academic Programs

AAU celebrated the launch of three new academic programs, representing a milestone in the university’s expanding role in Czech and international higher education and bringing together faculty, institutional partners, and prospective students on Friday, 13 June.
“I used to call AAU a small school with a big heart, but we keep growing. Now I can call it a big school with a big heart,” said Jeff Medeiros, M.B.A, Senior Lecturer of the Business School.
The new programs—B.A. in Psychology, B.A. in International and European Legal Study, and M.A. in International Business and Policy—offer a New Program Initiation Offer which ends 12 September 2025—with a 50% reduction in tuition per full program or a 30% reduction in tuition per semester.. The criteria for the celebratory discount is: full-time enrollment (5 classes each semester for B.A. students), completion of the full program, and a 3.5 GPA each semester.
AAU’s president, Jiří Schwarz, welcomed everyone to the event and explained that two of the new programs are replacing a discontinued Law Program that was in conjunction with the University of London as well as a Business Masters Program which was suspended during the COVID pandemic.
The B.A. in International and European Legal Studies is designed for aspiring legal professionals seeking expertise in the intricacies of international and EU-specific law. The program takes an interdisciplinary approach, blending the study of law with courses in politics, economics, and human rights. This allows students to gain an in-depth understanding of legal principles and see how these principles operate in broader societal and political contexts.

The M.A. in International Business & Policy program merges two fields which are more connected than ever now, preparing graduates to address the complexities of today’s markets and drive change in leadership roles on a global scale. Key areas of study include international trade, corporate finance, data analytics, and digital problem-solving. The program’s structure allows students to complete their studies in just one calendar year by leveraging winter and summer terms.
The Guarantor of the Psychology Program, doc. PhDr. Gabriela Málková, Ph.D said:
“An interest in studying psychology is on the rise. Why? It’s because psychology helps us understand people, our life, and ourselves which is a huge task.”

The B.A. in Psychology combines theory with practical application, emphasizing areas such as mental health and well-being, communication, personality development, and psychosocial intervention. The program adheres to the standards of the European Certificate in Psychology (EuroPsy) and equips graduates to become practicing psychologists or professionals who integrate psychological insights to human resources, education, social services, marketing, and beyond.
AAU is not stopping here. President Schwarz said that his vision and goal for the university is to submit accreditation for two PhD programs in International Business and International Relations by the end of the coming academic year.
“We were successful in accrediting three new programs and re-accrediting two existing ones which I would call an extraordinary achievement. I believe this is proof of the university’s academic strength. This is a trend for us not a deviation,” said the Vice President for Academic Affairs Ing. Miroslav Svoboda, Ph.D.
