AAU Business Lecturer Eva Švejdarová on Accessibility of Studying Abroad in MF DNES

AAU Business Lecturer Eva Švejdarová was recently featured in MF DNES discussing how studying abroad has become more accessible through programs such as Erasmus+, scholarships, and short-term international exchanges. Drawing on her own experience studying in Spain and at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), she explained how international education can shape both personal and professional growth.

According to Švejdarová, studying abroad is no longer an opportunity reserved for a select few. Instead, it is an investment that helps students build confidence, broaden their perspectives, and develop the skills needed to succeed in an increasingly global world.

“Studying abroad today is no longer an unattainable luxury. There are many ways to go abroad, from exchange programs and internships to short-term programs. The important thing is not to be afraid and to be proactive,” said Švejdarová.

Švejdarová also emphasized that the greatest value of studying abroad extends far beyond academics.

“An international experience is not just about studying, but above all about personal growth,” she said. “Students gain independence, learn to function in a new environment and handle unexpected situations. They significantly improve their language skills by using the language every day in practice, discover new cultures, and build international connections that can influence their future careers.”

At AAU, students can broaden their horizons through Erasmus+ and international exchange programs, earning credit toward their degree while studying at partner universities across Europe and around the world. Whether spending a full semester abroad or joining a short-term program, students gain new perspectives, firsthand cultural experiences, and an international network that extends far beyond the classroom.
