AAU is offering two students the chance to represent the university as ambassadors in the upcoming European Journalism Institute program. This week-long opportunity will gain you leadership skills, industry knowledge, a chance to network, and gain internship credits towards your degree at AAU!

What is the EJI Program?

The European Journalism Institute (EJI) is a week-long journalism training program held in Prague between July 10th – July 16th, 2022. It is co-hosted by The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) and The Media Project. The program brings together approximately 25 early- to mid-career journalists and upper-level journalism students from around the world. It is all-inclusive and FREE for the two selected student Ambassadors.

Within this program, you will:

  • Earn internship credits towards your degree at AAU upon program completion
  • Learn and practice fact-based reporting on religion, ethics, and liberty by participating in intensive seminars and writing workshops.
  • Survey best practices in the industry and how to navigate the social, economic, and political complexities of an ever-evolving media landscape from experts in the field.
  • Explore the main sights of Prague anew with fellow journalist peers.
  • Have accommodation, transport, and some meals provided

What will I do as an Ambassador?

The role of a Student Ambassador is to represent the university as an institution, engage with participants and peers, and answer questions about life at AAU and in Prague. Opportunities like this look good on your CV, help boost your soft skills (such as leadership, teamwork, and time management), create networks, and build confidence!

During the EJI Program, you will:

  • Serve as liaisons between program staff and AAU
  • Assist with logistical support such as help with translation, assistance with classroom preparation for faculty, etc.
  • Take a proactive “buddy” role in getting to know other participants and help them feel comfortable at AAU’s campus and in Prague during excursions.

How to apply

Application deadline: June 27, 2022

If interested please email Marie Burda at (marie.burda@aauni.edu).

This program should be of particular interest to those in the School of Journalism, Media, and Visual Arts as the experience challenges participants to consider the importance of independent, fact-based journalism as a foundation of liberty and free societies. Participants will engage with industry professionals to expand their understanding of religion in public life, explore fundamental issues related to journalism ethics, and boost their reporting skills through lectures and workshops.
