AAU President Jiří Schwarz Featured in iDNES.cz on Czechia’s Labor Market Challenges

AAU President doc. Ing. Jiří Schwarz, CSc. recently joined representatives from universities and business for a roundtable in Ostrava examining the future of employment in the Moravian-Silesian Region. The discussion, organized by ABB’s European Operations Center and the Česká hlava association, was covered by iDNES.cz.

The roundtable focused on the growing difficulty employers face in finding qualified workers as the labor market responds to automation, artificial intelligence, and changing skills needs. Participants also discussed attracting workers and students from abroad, with Schwarz pointing to Czechia’s position compared with other European countries.

“On a per-capita basis, we have significantly fewer international students than Austria or even Hungary,” President Schwarz said.

Schwarz also noted that neighboring Poland and Estonia are able to attract international workers and students considerably more easily than Czechia.
