AAU Joins President Petr Pavel’s Delegation in Nebraska to Expand Academic Ties

Anglo-American University joined Czech President Petr Pavel’s delegation during his visit to Nebraska, taking part in high-level academic discussions in a state with longstanding historical and cultural ties to Czechia.

Nebraska’s strong Czech-American heritage, shaped by generations of Czech immigrants and sustained through active diaspora communities, cultural traditions, and educational links, continues to provide an important foundation for cooperation between Czech and American institutions.

During his visit, President Pavel met with Nebraska officials, representatives of the Nebraska National Guard, and the academic community at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The visit underscored the close relationship between Czechia and Nebraska and explored opportunities to deepen educational and cultural exchange.

At the university, President Pavel met with University of Nebraska leadership and representatives of Czech higher education to discuss opportunities for expanding academic cooperation between Nebraska and Czech institutions. Anglo-American University was part of President Pavel’s delegation and was represented by Marie Burda, Director of Study Abroad, alongside representatives from Mendel University in Brno and the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague.

For AAU, the setting was especially meaningful. The university already has strong cooperation with the University of Nebraska, and the visit provided an opportunity to build on that relationship and explore further academic exchange and collaboration. As a Prague-based university delivering American-accredited higher education, AAU has a natural role in strengthening connections between Czechia and the United States. Participation in the discussions in Nebraska reflected the university’s commitment to international academic cooperation, student mobility, and building lasting educational bridges between the two countries.
