Community Engagement Scholarship
The Community Engagement Scholarship is designed to honor and support ten of our current students per semester who actively participate in enriching campus life. This scholarship is a token of our appreciation for those who take on service-based roles, such as Student Ambassadors and/or Student Mentors, and contribute significantly to creating a vibrant, welcoming, and student-centric environment at AAU.
Student Ambassador Role
As a Student Ambassador, you become an integral part of the AAU admissions and recruitment team. Your role is pivotal in guiding prospective students through their journey to AAU, from the application process to their arrival in Prague. Five students will be selected for this role per semester.
- Assist in Open Houses and other events for prospective students.
- Providing insights into AAU’s application procedures, academic programs, and student life resources.
- Representing AAU at University Fairs and School Visits, both domestically and internationally.
- Managing and designing content for social media platforms.
- Communicating with students via various outreach platforms, including phone, email, or online communication tools.
- Engaging in other activities as determined by the Admissions and Recruitment Office.
Student Mentor Role
Student Mentors offer invaluable assistance to new students, easing their transition into university life. This role focuses on helping new students overcome academic and social challenges during their first year. As a Student Mentor, you will be part of the AAU Student Affairs team. Five students will be selected for this role per semester.
- Assisting with New Student Orientation and providing guidance about life in Prague.
- Accompanying students to official appointments i.e. visa.
- Organizing campus events and facilitating peer meetings.
- Collaborating with campus services to enhance student support.
- Participating in other activities as determined by the Student Affairs Office.
Eligibility and Application Process
- Open to all degree-seeking students at AAU with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Applicants must be able to commit at least 20 hours per month and demonstrate motivation, reliability, and a friendly demeanor.
- Effective communication skills, comfortable with public speaking, and proficiency in social media.
- Applications for the Spring semester open in December, and for the Fall semester in April/May. Specific dates will be published in the call for applications.
- All current students are eligible to apply.
Submit an application with a CV and a Personal Statement or Video Presentation addressing the following questions:
- Why did you choose AAU and Prague?
- Describe yourself in 200 words.
- Why do you aspire to be an AAU Ambassador/Mentor?
- What value can you add to the AAU Ambassador/Mentor Program?
- Include one recommendation letter from a faculty member or the Dean’s Office.
For the selection process, the Dean’s Office will be consulted. Top candidates will be invited for a short interview.
- A scholarship of 10,000 CZK per semester credited towards tuition, awarded upon fulfilling the role’s requirements.
