Dr. Alexei Anisin, Dean of the School of International Relations and Diplomacy, recently published an op-ed piece in the Czech media outlet G.cz, in which he analyzed the recent mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine and compared this case to others in both the United States and in Central Europe.

This particular incident was the most lethal case of violence in the history of Maine and was unusual in that the offender was able to evade authorities for more than a day. Usually, mass shooters are either apprehended immediately or take their own life at the scene of the crime.

The Lewiston mass shooting will be further analyzed in future social inquiry by Dr. Anisin with the assistance of student research assistants who are currently compiling data on mass shooting events.
