Dean of SIRD Analyzes the Future of US-EU Relations in Hospodářské Noviny

AAU’s Dean of SIRD George Hays II was featured in Hospodářské Noviny with his analysis of the future of US-EU relations, related to the recent GLOBSEC event.

The question that students and the younger generation have to grapple with today is: what comes next in a Europe without American certainty? This is a global question that involves international politics and impacts far beyond the next election.

“We should not assume that the world will simply return to its previous form when the current American administration ends or President Donald Trump leaves… It is all the more important that [students] have the opportunity to talk about issues not only in the classroom, but also directly with people who have been involved in security, diplomacy and international politics,” said Hays.

This is a moment when Europe could develop a stronger global pull. This will require a change in how security and policy is thought of on the continent and beyond.
