AAU alumnus Jakub Kodl was recently featured in an interview with Hospodářské noviny, also published in the print edition of Ekonom magazine, where he discussed the contemporary art market, Czech art abroad, and the vision behind his gallery KodlContemporary.

Kodl, co-founder and owner of KodlContemporary and a graduate of AAU’s International Relations and Diplomacy program, comes from a family with a 150-year tradition in art collecting and the art trade. He later studied gallery management at the University of Westminster and business at UCL School of Management. In September 2025, he opened KodlContemporary, an independent gallery located in the distinctive glass building connected to the Fairmont Golden Prague Hotel.

In the interview, Kodl reflected on his efforts to increase the international visibility of Czech contemporary art, and to position Prague more prominently within the global art world.

“I want Czech contemporary art to be perceived in a global context,” Kodl said in the interview. “So that we get on the map of the art world and people come to Prague to see art just like they go to New York, London or Berlin.”
