Student Mentors
Our way of saying, “Welcome to AAU, welcome to Prague, and welcome home!”
About Student Mentors
We know it can be challenging transitioning into a new environment and we want you to enjoy all the excitement that student life in Prague has to offer. Who better to show you around than current students?
The AAU Student Mentor Program matches up first-year degree seeking new students with experienced student volunteers who assist them in adapting to university life. Our AAU Mentors are here to help!
Mentors are here to:
- Guide you through New Student Orientation
- Answer questions and provide recommendations related to life in Prague
- Accompany you to visa or other official appointments where you might need help
- Give you insight into specific degree programs and student resources at AAU
- Help you meet other students through organized events and activities
Meet the Mentors
Lyla Gent
Hello, my name is Lyla Gent, and I am a second-year International Relations student with a concentration in Law; I am also originally from Texas! In my free time, I love to cook, watch movies, read, discover new music, and hang out in one of Prague’s amazing parks! In addition to being a mentor, this semester I will be working in the Academic Tutoring Center for Academic Writing, among other topics, as well as serving as a member of your Student Council as the Events Manager. Don’t be afraid to stop me and say “hi” or ask any questions you might have!
Sarah Foster
Hi! I am Sarah, I am a third year journalism student here at AAU. I am originally from Norway and moving to Prague was the best decision I have ever made! I am so excited to help incoming students feel comfortable in their new home. In my free time I enjoy photography, running and spending time with my friends. I love meeting new people so if you ever see me on campus feel free to say hi!
Mia Escobar
Hello! My name is Mia Escobar and I’m a second year Latina/Asian student from the US (SoCal) studying marketing. I really enjoy helping others and am available for students in need of help. I understand the confusion of starting in a new university, especially abroad, and I can’t wait to meet and assist all of the incoming students. Outside of school, I really enjoy art, games, and photography. I’m usually spending my time in a park or cafe around the city. Don’t be scared to reach out!
Elise Christensen
Hi! I’m Elise and I am a third-year student at AAU studying business administration with a focus in economics. I am eager to help students adjust to life in Prague whether it’s for one semester or three years! This semester I will also be working in AAU Academic Tutoring Center, assisting other students with business and math related subjects. When I’m not at school, I enjoy traveling, getting outdoors, cooking, and am always working on a project just for fun. I am excited to meet the incoming students this year so be sure to say hi if you see me on campus!
Amelie Villagómez
