Institute of Applied Psychology

The AAU Institute of Applied Psychology is a professional academic unit of Anglo-American University in Prague, established as an integral part of the university’s organizational structure. The Institute was founded with the aim of developing applied psychological research, professional activities relevant to psychological practice—particularly in the field of counseling—and lifelong learning, in close alignment with the study programs of Anglo-American University in Prague and its long-term strategic priorities.

The Institute is firmly embedded within the academic structure of AAU. Its activities are based on the expertise of academic staff and researchers from  the Department of Psychology and on close cooperation with the School of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. In this way, the Institute creates a natural platform for the transfer of knowledge between academic psychology and its practical applications in the areas of assessment, intervention, counseling, and education.

The AAU Institute of Applied Psychology focuses on:

  • research in psychology and related fields (applied, contract-based, and basic research),
  • the development and validation of psychodiagnostic instruments, methods, and intervention programs,
  • lifelong and continuing professional education for practitioners,
  • expert, advisory, and consultancy services,
  • the involvement of psychology students in research and applied activities.

All activities of the Institute are conducted in accordance with AAU’s academic, ethical, and quality standards and are subject to the university’s quality assurance system. The Institute also serves as a platform for cooperation with academic, professional, and applied partners in the Czech Republic and internationally.

The Institute of Applied Psychology serves as a platform that brings together:

  • academic and research ideas,
  • psychological practice,
  • professional development,
  • social impact.

The goal is to create an environment in which professional ideas can take shape, gain support, and further develop. The Institute of Applied Psychology provides academics with a space to explore, create, analyze, and collaborate with professional practice.
