Strategeo Institute and Anglo-American University would like to invite you to attend a
discussion on the changing political landscape of Western Europe. Parties and movements
once regarded as outside the political mainstream are gaining significant support in
Germany, France, and the United Kingdom.

The discussion will focus on the implications of this shift for Europe: the future of the EU,
eurozone, Schengen and the single market; NATO and European defense; and Europe’s
response to Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Key questions:

  • What are the potential consequences of the rise of illiberal and radical political
    movements in Western Europe?
  • What could their growing influence mean for European integration, NATO, and
    European security?
  • Can movements moderate once they assume governmental responsibility?

Panelists:

  • Zuzana Lizcová – Head of the Department of German and Austrian Studies, Institute
    of International Studies, Charles University
  • Roman Joch – AAU lecturer and Chairman of the Civic Institute
  • Tomáš Klvaňa – Executive Director of the Aspen Institute CE, professor at NYUP
  • Dalibor Roháč – Director of Research, GLOBSEC
  • Mirek Topolánek – Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, 2006-2009
  • Jan Zahradil – Founder of CAPS at CEVRO University; MEP 2004-2024

The debate will be moderated by the president of the Strategeo Institute, Jan Macháček.
