AI and Neo-Orientalism

L311 (Library Building)

With the boom of generative AI and the incorporation of it into daily life, discussion of biases and societal issues around AI have begun to take greater hold of the discourse. This lecture and discussion aims to understand what AI is, how it came to be, and how its training and creation has brought issues of Neo-Orientalism into a new light.

The lecture will be led by Mgr. Zachary Stuck and will include an open discussion about current feelings of AI, where it is going, and how to handle its effects, particularly in regards to non-western discourse.
