Gabriela Málková is the founder and director of the AAU Institute of Applied Psychology and an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Anglo-American University in Prague. She earned her PhD in Educational Psychology at Charles University and, since 2002, has pursued an academic and research career at its Faculty of Humanities and Faculty of Education, later serving as Vice-Dean for Research at the Faculty of Humanities. Her research focuses on literacy development, early language and phonological skills, and their role in reading and spelling acquisition across languages, with a strong interest in advancing applied research that bridges theory and practice.

She has developed and co-developed several diagnostic and intervention tools widely used in Czech educational and counselling practice and has contributed to many national and international research projects, including the Multilingual Assessment Battery of Early Literacy (MABEL) (www.eldel-mabel.net). She is a member of the International Society for Scientific Studies of Reading and a founding member of the European Literacy Network. Alongside her research, she has extensive experience in lifelong learning programs for professionals in psychology, counselling, and speech therapy, and is dedicated to mentoring students and early career researchers.
