| Description | The course introduces students to literary texts from the Antiquity to the present day with the aims of acquiring skills in close reading of fiction, poetry and drama, being able to compare literature from different cultures and historical periods, and increasing the understanding of other cultures and periods besides their own. Literary texts will be read in English translation. |
| Learning Outcomes | Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: – Demonstrate a clear understanding of key periods in literary history across various cultures. – Show an ability to understand and analyze literature via close reading of texts, attuning themselves to nuances of meaning. – Place major literary works in their cultural context, enriching the reader’s perspectives. |
