Fancy becoming a representative of the AAU Alumni community? Want to have a greater say in shaping the future development of AAU, to benefit both students and alumni? Then becoming a member of the Alumni Council might be just the thing.

The Alumni Council is the representative body for the university’s alumni community that guides and promotes lifelong, symbiotic relationships between the university, current students, and alumni.

Members of the Council are elected for a three-year term during which they advise on the development of the university, taking part in the institution’s various committees and also working with the Alumni Relations office to improve engagement and collaboration and to otherwise support the alumni community.

Alumni Council elections for the 2024-2027 term will take place throughout the month of May this year, with the term itself commencing at the start of the 2024/25 academic year, i.e. September 2024.

Here’s the order of things:

  • Nominations – April 10 – May 10, 2024
  • Elections – May 20 – May 28, 2024
  • Results – June 10, 2024
  • Official start of new term – September 2024

Who’s eligible to be nominated for the Alumni Council?

  • Any member of the AAU Alumni community currently residing in the Czech Republic.
    If you are certain you will be graduating in June 2024, you can submit your nomination.

When are nominations due?

The deadline is May 10, 2024

How do I nominate myself or another alumnus?

Send an email to dana.aleksic@aauni.edu or fill out this nomination form, where you will include a short bio of yourself and why you want to run for the Alumni Council.

When are the elections held?

Elections will be held from Monday, May 20,2024 until Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at midnight. Voting forms will be sent out to all alumni by email.

How can you increase your chances of being elected?

Promote the elections and your nomination, among friends, former classmates, and on social media. Make your nomination more visible. All nominees will be sent voting form links to use when sharing with others.

When are the results announced?

On June 10, 2024, via an email to elected nominees and on the AAU Alumni LinkedIn account in the days that follow.

About the Alumni Council

What does the Council do and how many members are there? Here are some facts:

  • The Alumni Council serves as an autonomous representative body for the alumni community to guide and further promote lifelong, symbiotic relationships between the university and alumni.
  • The Alumni Council is composed of seven AAU Alumni (starting from 2024), elected by the alumni community.
  • Until now, one term lasted for two years; from 2024, the term will last three years.
  • The Alumni Council meets at least four times a year (usually September, December, February, and May) with the Alumni Specialist and other leadership, faculty, and staff. Meetings often take place at AAU, with the option to join in online.
  • Membership in the Council is voluntary.
