In Memory of Prof. PhDr. Bořivoj Hnízdo, Ph.D.

It is with great sadness that the Anglo-American University in Prague announces that our friend, and former colleague Prof. PhDr. Bořivoj Hnízdo, Ph.D. has passed away (on 27.4.2022) at the age of 70.

Bořivoj (Bořek) Hnízdo was a recognized expert in political science with a main focus on political geography and geopolitics.  He joined the Anglo-American University, then Anglo-American College, already  in Fall 1994 being one the  first Czech lecturers at the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. He contributed significantly to the grounding of university education in English in Czechia. He was a guarantor of the Politics & Society program of study in the historical accreditation of AAC (AAU) 2001 and, within a larger context, a founder of the graduate studies of political science in English at Charles University, thus contributing significantly to the internationalization of university education in Czechia. Prof. Hnízdo was teacher of hundreds of AAU students, he chaired dozens of state exams committees, advised innumerable theses.  Several of his students, Americans, British, Irish, Indian, are today AAU lecturers or are associated with AAU.

Bořek Hnízdo was a respected professor, a kind, thoughtful man and a friend to many of us.
