Choosing a university in the Czech Republic is a matter for the whole family
New research shows that in the Czech Republic, parents play a key role in shaping students’ academic paths. Most parents (97%) are involved in the process of considering universities. Additionally, a small majority (55%) are open to their children studying abroad, and half (50%) consider studying in English to be important.
AAU’s Vice President for Student Affairs Jeta Sahatqija was featured in an article about how Czech families are involved when choosing the perfect university, highlighting that parents want to be part of the decision-making process but also respect their children’s autonomy.
“Today, parents consider not only the field of study but also how well a university prepares their child for real-world professional life. They value a combination of academic quality, practical experience, an international environment, and a safe and supportive setting. From their perspective, higher education is an investment in the future with a tangible return,” said Sahatqija.
At AAU, students are surrounded by peers from over 80 countries while staying in the heart of Europe. Courses are in English, based on interactive discussion and hands-on learning—all which prepare students for a global work environment.
