AAU’s 2025 Graduation Ceremony at Bethlehem Chapel

Congratulations to all AAU’s 2025 graduates! Family, friends, staff, guests, and students filled Bethlehem Chapel in the heart of Prague during two separate commencements, due to the university’s ever increasing numbers.
The ceremony celebrated 192 graduates of 76 nationalities, including 62 graduates of School of Business; 71 graduates of School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences; 58 graduates of School of International Relations and Diplomacy; 1 graduate of the John H. Cary II School of Law.
Doc. Ing Jiří Schwarz, CSc. and President of AAU gave the opening address with two guest speakers, Dr. Lars-André Richter and Dr. Tomáš Sedláček, as well as the valedictorians speaking next, all expressing their pride for what the university and the graduates have achieved this academic year as well as their excitement for the future.
“On the way towards university degrees, many pitfalls awaited our students which they successfully overcame—many of which were different from those faced by their predecessors…[COVID and Russia’s aggression in Ukraine] were and are a test of resilience and adaptability not only for students, but also a test of the creativity and flexibility of their alma mater,” said President Schwarz.

Economist, philosopher, and author of International best-seller the Economics of Good and Evil, Dr. Tomáš Sedláček, spoke about the way he views the world through the “body” that is tangible, the “soul” which is intangible, and the “spirit” that is what “makes you tick”. The world and the economy have evolved from exercising our bodies to exercising our minds, and there is a new shift happening now that will require us to occupy the realm of the spirit.
“Spirit is something that cannot be analyzed; spirit is something that cannot be divided; spirit is something that cannot be symbolized. It can not be objectively agreed upon,” said Sedláček, “It is the area of will, the area of purpose, the area of psychology, the arena of human relations…I would like to bless you and give you the power—if it was in my power—to understand everything that you see, to be curious, to see the spirit of things.”

The Valedictorians, Barbora Müllerová and Sara Gabrielle Tirrito, spoke about their time at AAU and what it has meant for them and their future. Graduating with a B.A. in Business Administration and aspirations to launch a firm focused on women’s empowerment and innovation, Müllerová highlighted how important AAU’s tight-knit community was.
Müllerová’s message to her fellow students was this:
“You are not behind. You are not lost. You are exactly where you are supposed to be. What matters isn’t how fast you got there, it’s who you become along the way and who’s beside you as you get there. Even though I celebrated my achievements, it’s the people that matter.”

Tirrito graduated with a Masters Degree in Humanities while teaching full time and researching Equanimity in University Students which became the foundation for her thesis. Tirrito emphasized that life does not need to follow a strict timeline—dreams and ambitions can change at any time and at any age.
With AAU’s successes this academic year in accrediting five programs and contributing to the legislative process for improving the efficiency of nostrification, President Schwartz announced AAU’s next ambitious goal to accredit a Doctorate in International Business and Politics. This is based on newly approved grants from the Czech science foundation and Czech Technological Agency which list AAU among the top private, Czech universities for academic research in economics and political science.
“I am confident that graduates of Anglo-American University are well-prepared not only for post grad study, but also for their successful professional careers. Our school has taught them critical thinking, the use of modern-scientifically based working methods, knowledge, and skills,” concluded President Schwartz.
