AAU Professors Showcase their Art in Two Exhibitions

Three professors of the Visual Arts Studies Program— Veronika Bromová, Jana Babincová, and Martin Kána—exhibited their artwork at two different galleries. Bromová held a solo show at the Entrance Gallery while Babincová and Kána participated in a collective exhibition at Pragmovka.

Bromová’s art, which will be exhibited until 30 August, is called Under the spell of the Strawberry Moon and was inspired by the use of natural and recycled materials. The piece chosen to represent the Strawberry Moon is made from a recycled sheet and hand-dyed with different shades of pink and red.

“I really like to work with what I have around me. I’m living 180 km from Prague on a homestead called Chaos, and that’s my source of inspiration,” said Bromová.

Bromová’s work focuses on feminine themes, the body, gender, alternative family, nature, mythology, as well as her own practice of ritual performance. She strives to be in harmony with nature which stands in tandem with Entrance Gallery’s 2025 theme of “cyclicality under the overarching concept of the cycle of life”.

Babicová presented both her old artwork and her most recent that was chosen in line with the theme of the exhibit, which ends 19 September and features 30 other artists, “tracing shifts and continuities in the practices of those who together shape the unique story of Pragovka.”

Her older works are snapshots of footprints in the sand made through dance, representing Babicová’s transformation from dance to drawings. This is contrasted with her new art which is a transformation of Czech cubism to a more contemporary form.

“I hope we can “kick” most artists to come and follow me and other teachers in our art program because AAU has very great teachers,” commented Bromová, “We try our best to help students speak about today’s topics and find their own power and strength to show their own individuality in art.”
