Roman Joch

Dr. Roman Joch graduated MD at Charles University, Prague (1996); he has been a fellow of the Krieble Institute, Washington, D.C. (1993), the Acton Institute, MI (2001), and the Lincoln Fellow of the Claremont Institute, CA (2007).

Dr. Joch is Chairman and Executive Director of the Civic Institute, a Prague-based think tank. He was International Secretary of ODA, a political party (1994–98), and an Assistant to a Senator (2001–04) in the Czech Republic. He served as an Adviser to the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic (Human Rights and Foreign Policy, 2010–12), Adviser to the Lord Mayor of Prague (2012–14), and Adviser to the Member of the European Parliament (2017).

In addition to being Chairman and Director of the Civic Institute, he is an Assistant Professor at the University of Economics and at CEVRO University, both in Prague. He is the author of several books and essays on political philosophy and public policy, a contributor to Czech and Slovak media, and a regular columnist for the Czech daily Lidovky.cz and Slovak daily Postoj.sk, as well as a member of the Editorial Board of Aspen Review Central Europe. Among his books are The Revolt Against the Revolution of the 20th Century, No, Mr. Prime Minister!, and On the Side of Freedom.
