Matthew Laker, Ph.D.

Dr. Matthew Laker is a psychologist and lecturer in the The School of Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Karlova University (2026). Previously he completed an MA in Clinical Counseling Psychology from La Salle University administered at the University of New York Prague (2013). He also holds an MBA from St. Xavier University in Chicago (2001).
Dr. Laker’s dissertation work pertained to the effects of childhood stress and aviophobia His current research project is in borderline personality disorder. He brings a “hands on” orientation to psychology with over a decade of experience in private practice. Prior to returning to university, Dr. Laker worked in finance and legal information services at a Fortune 100 company.
