Humanities, Society, and Culture: Creative Writing and Storytelling

Naše Creative Writing and Storytelling concentration is built for students who want to write, create, experiment, and publish—not just study texts. From the very start, students are actively producing original work, participating in workshops, and receiving continuous feedback from faculty and peers.

The program blends creative labs, writing studios, and genre-focused workshops with a flexible liberal arts structure. Learning happens through doing: drafting stories, revising poems, scripting scenes, pitching ideas, and collaborating on creative projects. Small class sizes and an interactive American-style teaching model ensure that every student’s voice is heard and developed.

Mimo třídu se můžete zapojit také do studentských klubů jako je Model OSN a Filmový klub, diskutovat o aktuálních politických otázkách s profesory a místními odborníky na akcích jako ‘Profesoři v hospodě’ nebo se zastavit na některém z našich filmových večerů či čtení poezie v knihovně, kde vystupují profesoři a mezinárodně publikující autoři.

AAVŠ Kariérní centrum také každoročně zprostředkovává studentům řadu odborných stáží v České republice i v zahraničí.

Bakalářské studium humanitních věd, společnosti a kultury je tříleté. Pro absolvování studia musí studenti nasbírat 90 amerických kreditů (180 kreditů ECTS) absolvováním 30 předmětů včetně stáže a diplomové práce. Studenti ukončí studium závěrečnou zkouškou a obhajobou diplomové práce.

Graduates of the Creative Writing and Storytelling concentration at Anglo-American University have diverse employment opportunities in both creative and professional fields where strong writing, storytelling, and communication skills are valued. Many find positions as authors, content writers, copywriters, editors, and journalists in publishing houses, media organisations, and digital content platforms. Others work in marketing, advertising, and public relations, where narrative development, brand storytelling, and audience engagement are critical.

Unlike traditional literature programs focused mainly on analysis, Creative Writing and Storytelling at AAU is built around creation. You learn by writing, revising, experimenting, and collaborating—exactly how professional writers work. From day one, you are treated as a creator, not just a student.

The program combines American-style, workshop-based teaching with a flexible liberal arts foundation that feeds creativity through psychology, culture, philosophy, and media. This allows students to create stories that are not only imaginative, but also informed, relevant, and meaningful.

The Bachelor’s degree awarded is concurrently recognized as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in the United States, per AAU’s accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, and as a Bakalář (Bc.) in the Czech Republic, per AAU’s accreditation by the National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education (NABHE). Graduates may select whether to use the U.S. post-nominal or the Czech pre-nominal title.

Poznámka: The Humanities, Society, and Culture: Creative Writing and Storytelling concentration is currently undergoing internal accreditation by the Academic Quality Assurance Board of Anglo-American University (accreditation pending). Upon successful accreditation, its completion will be indicated on the transcript and diploma supplement.
