Nově přijatí studenti

Naším cílem je pomoci novým studentům s jejich začátkem studia na AAVŠ. Poskytujeme studentům i jejich rodinám dovednosti, znalosti a zdroje, které jim umožní být na AAVŠ úspěšní jak po sociální, tak akademické stránce už od prvního dne.

Služba AAVŠ pro uznání předchozího vzdělání umožňuje studentům studovat v režimu obou akreditací, tedy získat titul uznávaný jak v České republice, tak v USA. Proces probíhá interně jako součást přijímacího řízení a přináší řadu výhod. Pokud jste absolvovali střední školu (pro uchazeče o B.A.) nebo dokončili bakalářské studium (pro uchazeče o M.A.), můžete začít tím, že shromáždíte potřebné dokumenty uvedené ve Směrnici o uznávání dokumentů. Naše přijímací oddělení vám pomůže se všemi kroky a po odevzdání dokumentů je zkontroluje a informuje vás o výsledku. Budete-li mít všechny dokumenty v pořádku, můžete být přijati do režimu duálně akreditovaného programu uznávaného v České republice i v USA.

Po přijetí a zaplacení školného na první semestr obdržíte od IT oddělení před začátkem semestru e-mailovou adresu s přihlašovacími údaji a dozvíte se: 

All new AAU students must take the Entry Level Assessment of Written Communication (Students in the School of Business must also take a Mathematics Placement test). The assessment has two primary goals:

(1) otestovat jazykové dovednosti, porozumění psanému textu a psaní a 

(2) placement in the appropriate Composition course level (COM 099, COM 101, COM 102). 

Hodnocení není klasifikováno, takže neovlivňuje vaše GPA (průměr studijních výsledků). Jelikož je však určeno pro zařazení do úrovně v předmětu Composition, je třeba k němu přistupovat zodpovědně. Hodnocení najdete ve svém profilu v NEO a je nutné ho dokončit co nejdříve od chvíle, kdy e-mailem obdržíte instrukce od přijímacího oddělení.

The Assistant Dean of your School of Study will be your academic advisor during your time at AAU. Based on the study program you have selected, you will select classes at the times and dates that fit you best. Please note that you can complete registration only after completing tuition payment and Entry Level Assessments. The currency of the Czech Republic is the Czech crown (or koruna).  Make sure to have some crowns on hand for the first few days! To take out money in the city, it is recommended to use bank ATMs (Raifeissen, Fio, etc.) instead of the Euronet ATMs (marked with yellow/ blue stripes), which charge high transaction fees. If you are planning to convert money from your home currency, AAU suggests eXChange, located in Štefánikova 203/23, Prague 5, which offers good exchange rates and is located close to AAU. Before you leave your home country, do not forget to contact your bank and inform them that you will be traveling to the Czech Republic. This will help to prevent charges made here from being flagged and ensure that your card continues to work as usual.

Your student card, also known as ISIC, will be ready for pick-up at the Registrar’s Office once classes start. With the student card, you will receive various discounts around the city, including discounts on phone plans and transportation, and for printing on campus. You can contact the Registrar’s Office at registrar@aauni.edu , abyste hned po začátku výzky zjistili, zda máte ISIC kartu připravenou k vyzvednutí. Prague’s public transportation system is one of the best in the world, operating on the metro, tram, and bus lines. The Metro has three lines: green, yellow, and red, with AAU being located on the green line. Several trams serve AAU as well. Your ISIC allows for the purchase of discounted monthly/yearly transportation tickets. Learn more at https://www.dpp.cz/en. Všem našim studentům doporučujeme, aby si stáhli do mobilu aplikaci PID Litacka, as it is an easy and convenient way to purchase tickets and passes and is always on your phone!

AAU doporučuje Vodafone Student Plan. You will be able to utilize this plan in all European countries without roaming charges. Once you arrive in Prague, you can head to a Vodafone retailer to purchase, with most associates being able to assist in English.

Welcome! The Czech Republic, along with the city of Prague, consistently rank among the top ten safest countries and cities in the world. You will find that many Czechs speak at least a bit of English, which will help you to get around and feel welcome in the city. 

When you arrive at Prague airport, you can take an Uber, Bolt, or public transportation to your dormitory or apartment. An Uber from the airport should cost between 300–500 Czech Koruna ($15–$25). AAU recommends taking caution if opting to use a taxi as rates tend to be inflated.

Přibližně dva týdny před datem check-inu obdržíte e-mail od koordinátora ubytování a budete požádáni o vyplnění údajů pro check-in. Nezapomeňte tyto informace vyplnit, protože zajišťují hladký průběh celého check-inu.

Přibližně týden před příjezdem obdržíte všechny potřebné informace.

V den příjezdu vám s ubytováním pomohou naši partneři ze společnosti Zeitraum Student Housing. 

Check-in starts at 3 PM. If you come before 3 PM and your room is ready for move-in by the time of your arrival, you may check-in earlier. On the other hand, if you arrive after 7 PM, do not worry, your key and everything you need will be given to you by the security guard.

If you are staying at AAU housing, you will also be registered at the Czech Foreign Police so you do not have to do it yourself.

During New Student Orientation, first year students will get to know AAU, connect with their peers, and meet experienced students and staff. They will gain insight into the expectations of their study programs, learn how to prepare for and participate in classes, and discover where to find academic and career support. Students will also explore ways to engage in student life and much more. 

Naši Mentoři pro nové studenty are existing AAU students who welcome new students and help them adjust to both AAU and Prague by answering questions and offering advice based on their experience. In other words, they help new students to develop into successful AAU students.
