Acerca de la concentración

The Creative Writing concentration is closely aligned with several existing research areas within the School of Arts and Humanities, particularly those in literary studies, cultural studies, and interdisciplinary narrative research. The program equips graduates with the ability to adapt their writing and narrative expertise to both artistic and professional contexts, making them versatile contributors across creative industries.

La Creative Writing and Storytelling concentration is built for students who want to write, create, experiment, and publish—not just study texts. From the very start, students are actively producing original work, participating in workshops, and receiving continuous feedback from faculty and peers.

The program blends creative labs, writing studios, and genre-focused workshops with a flexible liberal arts structure. Learning happens through doing: drafting stories, revising poems, scripting scenes, pitching ideas, and collaborating on creative projects. Small class sizes and an interactive American-style teaching model ensure that every student’s voice is heard and developed.

Why Choose This Program?

This program is designed for students who don’t want to wait until graduation to start writing.

Unlike traditional literature programs focused mainly on analysis, Creative Writing and Storytelling at AAU is built around creation. You learn by writing, revising, experimenting, and collaborating—exactly how professional writers work. From day one, you are treated as a creator, not just a student.

The program combines American-style, workshop-based teaching with a flexible liberal arts foundation that feeds creativity through psychology, culture, philosophy, and media. This allows students to create stories that are not only imaginative, but also informed, relevant, and meaningful.

By graduation, you don’t just leave with a degree, you leave with:

  • A strong creative identity
  • A polished writing portfolio
  • Experience working across genres and platforms
  • Skills applicable to publishing, media, marketing, and digital industries

If you want a program that values your voice, challenges your ideas, and prepares you to turn creativity into real opportunities, this is where your story begins.

  • Las clases de AAU son pequeñas, normalmente de hasta 25 personas, lo que creo que hace que la interacción entre los compañeros de clase internacionales sea más personal y diversa.
