Visual Art Studies: Art Therapy

The Art Therapy concentration is designed for students who want to combine creativity with care, self-discovery, and real-world impact. It sits within the BA in Visual Art Studies (VAS) and blends studio-based art practice, psychology, and reflective learning into a truly experiential program.

From day one, students are making art, reflecting on process, and learning how creativity supports their own and others’ wellbeing. Classes are small, interactive, and studio-centred, creating a safe, supportive environment where students learn through hands-on experience, discussion, and guided practice rather than passive lectures.

This is not about memorising theory, it’s about working with materials, people, emotions, and meaning.

This undergraduate Art Therapy concentration does not on its own qualify graduates to practise as licensed or registered art therapists in such jurisdictions. It provides pre-professional preparation and a foundation for further graduate study in art therapy or related fields}

Bakalářské studium Visual Art Studies je tříletý studijní program. K absolvování studia musí studenti získat 90 amerických kreditů (180 kreditů ECTS) absolvováním 30 předmětů. Po absolvování všech povinných a volitelných předmětů studenti ukončí studium státní zkouškou pokrývající obsah hlavního modulu a obhajobou diplomové práce.

Udělený bakalářský titul je současně uznáván jako Bachelor of Arts (BA) ve Spojených státech amerických podle akreditace udělené WASC Senior College and University Commission a jako Bakalář (Bc.) v České republice podle akreditace udělené Národním akreditačním úřadem (NAÚ). Absolventi si mohou vybrat, zda budou používat titul s americkým post-nominálem, nebo český titul s před-nominálem.

Poznámka: Naše Visual Art Studies: Art Therapy concentration is currently undergoing internal accreditation by the Academic Quality Assurance Board of Anglo-American University (accreditation pending). Upon successful accreditation, its completion will be indicated on the transcript and diploma supplement.
