DescriptionThis course provides students with the statistical tools and conceptual framework to make informed management decisions. Data are described by their central tendency and dispersion characteristics. Sampling theory, sampling distributions, statistical inference, and testing of hypotheses as applied to economic and business problems. Correlation, regression analysis, and index numbers form a major component of this course. Statistical applications and the use of computers are an integral part of the course material.

– To assemble, edit and analyze economic and business data and describe its statistical nature;
– To use statistical inference, hypothesis testing, and sampling to gain insights into the characteristics of a population;
– To use correlation and regression analysis to find relationships among business and economic variables;
– To develop an understanding of the evaluation of data and use of critical judgment in forming business decisions.
