| Descripción | This course is an interdisciplinary survey of the development of Europe from Late Antiquity to the end of the Middle Ages. In this course, we will look at the political, religious, economic, and cultural developments that together formed the civilization of medieval Europe. Consideration will be given to how the legacy of these developments subsequently defined the ‘construction of Europe’ to the present day. Lectures will be based mainly on primary source texts in English translation, as well as examples from art, architecture, music and literature. |
| Resultados del aprendizaje | Al finalizar este curso, los estudiantes deben ser capaces de: – Demonstrate a knowledge of the important events and personalities that shaped the emergence of Europe from the Late Roman world through the Middle Ages – Discuss the development and organization of the political, economic, religious and cultural institutions of medieval society. – Distinguish between primary and secondary sources, and be able to use these materials to discuss historical events and issues. – Discuss the legacy of the Middle Ages in the modern construction of Europe |
