| Popis | This course surveys the major fields, foundational concepts, and methods of psychology. Students will gain insight into the historical roots of the discipline, from early philosophical debates to the rise of psychology as a scientific field. They will also learn about a variety of research methodologies that underpin psychological inquiry. Core topics include perception, cognition, memory, motivation, emotion, and consciousness, as well as their development across the lifespan. Students will practice critical evaluation of classic experiments, contemporary studies, and ethical considerations. |
| Výsledky učení | Po absolvování tohoto kurzu by studenti měli být schopni: – Describe the historical development of psychology as a scientific discipline, noting key figures, schools of thought, and seminal experiments. – Understand basic research methodologies in psychology, including experimental, correlational, and observational designs, and apply critical thinking to evaluate sources, data, and interpretations. – Demonstrate familiarity with core areas of psychology—such as perception, cognition, memory, motivation, emotion, language, and consciousness—and understand how these processes change across the lifespan. – Recognize ethical principles, professional conduct, and the importance of cultural and societal factors in psychological research. – Communicate psychological concepts, historical milestones, and research findings effectively in oral and written forms. |
