Název kurzuJazyk a mysl
Kód kurzuPSY302 / PSY502
PopisJazyk a mysl is an advanced course exploring how human beings acquire, use, and are shaped by language across development and cultures. The course examines language as a psychological, cognitive, and socio-cultural tool: how the brain supports language, how children begin to communicate, how social interaction and environment scaffold language growth, and how language reflects and shapes human thought.

Students will analyze developmental, cognitive and cultural mechanisms of language, the role of caregivers, family and educational settings, and variation across cultures and bilingual contexts. Key topics include language development, brain–language relationships, mediated learning, pragmatics and Theory of Mind, developmental language disorders, bilingualism, and cultural influences on linguistic and conceptual systems.

The course draws on Sedivy (2018), Language in Mind as a primary text and integrates psychological research on development, cognition and culture.
