| Popis | This course introduces undergraduate psychology students to the fundamental principles and applications of statistics in psychological research. It is designed for students with little or no prior experience in statistics and focuses on building both conceptual understanding and practical skills necessary for analyzing and interpreting data in the behavioral sciences. Students will learn how to summarize data, understand variability, explore relationships between variables, and test psychological hypotheses using basic inferential methods. The course combines theoretical foundations with hands-on practice in statistical reasoning, data management, and the use of statistical software. Emphasis is placed on the role of statistics as a tool for answering research questions, supporting evidence-based conclusions, and promoting scientific thinking in psychology. The course aims to develop students’ ability to understand published research, critically evaluate statistical arguments, and apply statistical methods in their own empirical projects. |
| Výsledky učení | Po absolvování tohoto kurzu budou studenti schopni: – Understand and explain key statistical concepts used in psychological research, including measurement levels, variability, and the logic of statistical inference. – Apply basic descriptive and inferential statistical methods to real or simulated psychological data and interpret results in context. – Use statistical software (e.g., SPSS or JASP) to conduct analyses, visualize data, and report findings in accordance with APA style. – Critically assess the appropriateness and assumptions of statistical procedures, including effect sizes, significance levels, and test limitations. |
