PopisIn this course, students will learn to design research using a variety of methods, theories, and concepts drawn from psychology and the social sciences. Students will become familiar with all phases of a research project:
from understanding the philosophical underpinnings of research and formulating research questions, to designing and conducting studies, gathering and categorizing data, operationalizing concepts, analyzing results
with basic quantitative and qualitative methods, and interpreting findings. Students will work individually and in teams, developing their research, presentation, and writing skills. Emphasis is placed on understanding the
researcher’s role, appropriate theory use, methodological rigor, and ethical considerations. Lectures will be combined with seminar-style discussions and practical exercises. Written assignments, presentations, and a
final research proposal project serve as pedagogical tools to enhance learning.
Výsledky učeníPo absolvování tohoto kurzu budou studenti schopni:
– Differentiate between various epistemological positions and explain how they influence research design in psychology.
– Understand and apply the logic behind both quantitative and qualitative research methods, including the uses of theory and appropriate analytical techniques.
– Formulate clear, methodologically sound research questions and choose suitable methods and data sources to address them.
– Critically evaluate the methods used in other social science research projects, identifying strengths, limitations, and ethical considerations.
– Produce a coherent, well-structured research proposal that reflects sound methodological design, appropriate citations, and an awareness of the researcher’s role.
