The Diplomatic Club was proud to host the head of the Czech International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission, Mrs. Lucie Sládková.

Mrs. Sládková held a presentation on the IOM´s mission and its core activities in the Czech Republic. Numerous programs were presented including the organization’s recruitment process, though the central focus remained on the so-called assisted voluntary returns program (AVR). The IOM Prague office assists approximately 300 to 400 migrants with a safe return process each year. Most of the persons seeking such assistants are asylum applicants who could not undergo the process or who were denied asylum. The second step to the AVR program is assisted voluntary returns reintegration (AVRR). This continuation program encompasses services such as: job counseling and retraining courses to ensure a sustainable return. Mrs. Sládková graciously shared with us her experiences in the organization along with stories of the migrants she encountered in her occupation.

The International Organization for Migration is an inter-governmental leader in the field of migration, with 169 member states and offices in over 100 countries. The organization's mission is to provide a humane and orderly management of migration including services and advice to governments.
