This paper addresses the issue of strategic management in the Czech hospitality industry. Our research aims at answering the following questions: How does the usage of property management system (PMS) software help hotels and accommodation places to pursue their business strategy? Does the usage of such information technologies contribute to the learning and growth of the enterprise? In which particular areas? In order to find answers to these questions, we use the balanced scorecard method developed by Kaplan and Norton (1996) and distribute online questionnaires to a sample of Czech hotels and accommodation providers. The sample covers the whole geographic area of the Czech Republic mainly around the district centres and important sport resorts and cultural heritage places – castles and monuments. Our study builds upon previous research which had found that while small organizations meet the standards of their profession often with the lowest costs using the skills of their employees, the large companies use more sophisticated systems (Kubickova and Jindrichovska 2016; Jindrichovska and Kohout 2016).
