About the program

The B.A. in Humanities, Society and Culture: Language, Communication and Culture concentration explores how meaning is created and symbolically conveyed through language, literature, art, and film.

Students will learn to recognize and employ effective communication skills which will enable them to address and solve complex theoretical and practical issues in diverse and evolving contexts. They will develop an understanding of linguistic, semiotic, psychological, and social and anthropological perspectives on communication.

AAU encourages students’ self-expression through extracurricular activities. Program Structure

The Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, Society and Culture is a 3-year study program. To graduate, students must accumulate 90 US credits (180 ECTS credits) by completing 30 courses.

Learning Outcomes

Graduates of the B.A. in Humanities, Society and Culture: Language, Communication and Culture can expect to:

Demonstrate broad knowledge of ideas & issues across the fields of art, literature, film, philosophy, religion, history, politics & sociology, anthropology, and psychology; demonstrate a broad knowledge of the theories, methods, and concepts in these areas.

Address and solve moderately complex theoretical and practical issues and problems in changing contexts
Effectively communicate issues, problems, or dilemmas and their solutions
Take effective and responsible action both individually and within a team

Qualification Awarded

The Bachelor’s degree awarded is concurrently recognized as a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in the United States, per AAU’s accreditation by the WASC Senior College and University Commission, and as a Bakalář (Bc.) in the Czech Republic, per AAU’s accreditation by the National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education (NABHE). Graduates may select whether to use the U.S. post-nominal or the Czech pre-nominal title.

This concentration is accredited by the Academic Council of Anglo-American University. Its completion will be indicated on the transcript and diploma supplement.
