About the program
The M.A. in Humanities program engages students in innovative intellectual work. In small, interactive classes, students learn to apply analysis and research methods from the social sciences, arts, literature, cultural and religious worldviews, and philosophy.
The two-year Master of Arts in Humanities program offers an applied approach to the practice of humanities. Students develop academically and professionally as they become experts in humanistic work, including visual culture, arts, and cultural management, popular culture and media theory, modern intellectual history, and advanced literary studies and critique.
The School of Humanities provides the means for quality study with competent professors, small intimate classrooms, and all necessary materials like textbooks available for free. But what books yield in ideas, Prague bestows in experience, and studying at AAU confronts you not only with new thoughts but also new ways of life. You will interact with diverse students and faculty from far afield and reflect upon your own life and the culture that shaped it, learning of its failures and unconscious assumptions, while perhaps appreciating its strengths and insights. You’ll be book-wise and world-wise. You’ll be more mature and confident. You’ll certainly be all the richer for it and none the poorer.Richard Sovitzky, Humanities, Society & Culture, USA
Anglo-American University’s international faculty is a great resource to students looking for a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary humanities program in Prague. Beyond the classroom, you can also join student clubs like Model UN and Film Club, discuss current political issues with professors and local experts at an event like ‘Professors in the Pub’ or stop by one of our movie nights or poetry readings in the Library featuring professors and internationally published authors.
AAU’s Career Center also connects students with numerous professional internships in the Czech Republic and abroad every year.
