This month: Hybrid Warfare

Though hybrid warfare is not a particularly new phenomenon, Russia’s seizure of Crimea began a refocusing of attention on the concept. Since 2014, concerns of the susceptibility of the West to Russian hybrid warfare tactics have been increasing, and those concerns have been finding themselves as part of discussions that range from NATO strategy in the Baltic, to elections and referendums across the West, to even Russia’s unique interest in a German teen’s lies to her family and police. But what is hybrid warfare? How does it differ from other acts of state overt and covert aggression? How effective is it?

Come explore these questions and ask your own. The lead professor will be Mark Galeotti, Senior Researcher at the Institute of International Relations Prague.
