In a recent article published by QS Top Universities, Prague came in at number 8 of the top 10 best student cities in the world according to students.

The survey which was completed by approximately 87,000 students considered factors typically important to students and recent graduates such as; culture, affordability, nightlife, employment opportunities, diversity, ease of getting around, friendliness and so on.

obrázek This is not the first time Prague has made a ‘best cities list’. A 2017 Euromonitor study recorded that Prague had become the 5th most visited destination in Europe and it has routinely beat out global hotspots like London, Tokyo, and Berlin in polls connected to student opinion. What was once referred to as the hidden gem of Central Europe has burst onto the global scene and proven to be especially popular with the international student demographic.

AAU’s Dean of Students, Ana Hernandez Blackstad said, “This comes as no surprise! Prague is safe, affordable, easy to navigate, and it has lots of fun things to do on a budget. The public transportation system is easy to use, lots of people speak English and the location can't be beat – for students who want to explore Europe, Prague is a great home base! ”

The QS Top Universities article states that students specifically noted the „affordability of everything and the fantastic sights”, as well as the city’s “integration of culture and diversity.“ Not to mention the post-graduate opportunities. There are more and more multinational companies establishing headquarters in Prague every year, and coupled with the historically low unemployment rate graduates have great employment prospects in Prague.

obrázek AAU’s Director of Recruitment and Admissions, Emily Bomersback commented, “Positive rankings like these really help to reinforce what we've been touting at AAU all along- We are offering students the opportunity to study at one of the most culturally rich and diverse cities in the world, while ensuring that it's an affordable option as well. There is truly something special happening in Malá Strana!”
