On Sept. 22, AAU will host an exhibition by Lo Ch’ing, who is a poet, essayist, painter, calligrapher and literary theorist.

The internationally-known Taiwanese poet, painter and caligrapher Lo Ch´ing (*1948) will present a large scope of his creative work in a cycle of exhibitions and readings, which he will begin in Hradec Králové. His work crosses the conventional boundaries of traditional Chinese aesthetics and combines the aesthetical principles of East and West into one integrated work. Lo Ch´ing brings in his creativity, playfullness and exaggeration. Western modernistic approaches allow him also to handle more freely the Chinese traditional perceptions and experiences of the world. His creative work touches universal questions on the place of man in the world and on discovering ourselves.

The exhibition will present 18 quality, large-format replicas of selected works of the artist, and selected originals. The presentation of the paintings will be accompanied by a program composed of the author reading from his book A Poem is a Cat (Prague: Mi Lu Publishing, 2015) and public lectures by Lo Ch´ing on topics in Chinese art which will be held during his visit of the Czech Republic from September 19th to 22nd, 2016.
