On Friday, February 1st, 2019 Karen Grunow-Hårsta officially assumed the position as Dean of The School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Karen Grunow-Hårsta, Ph.D. took over for Interim Dean, Milada Polišenská, who served in this position during the search for a new dean. Karen was selected from a lengthy search that included several rounds of consideration and 39 very qualified applicants (Czech, Czech based foreign experts and applicants from abroad). 

Her first appearance as Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences came during new student orientation as she addressed a full room of fresh faces giving them words of wisdom to start the new semester as AAU students.

Interim Dean Polišenská expressed, "Karen is an experienced, perfectly qualified, competent, energetic, well organized and insightful women. The school will be in the best hands.“ 

obrázek Grunow-Hårsta is a senior lecturer and Chair of the department of English and Academic Writing at Anglo-American University. She earned her Ph.D. degree in Linguistics from UWM (Milwaukee) and holds an. M.A. in Art History and undergraduate degrees in literature and education.
