Mr. Kashkett’s 35-year career as a senior U.S. diplomat gave him the opportunity to serve in key positions at U.S. embassies in Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, as well as at the United Nations. He worked on counterterrorism efforts in Beirut, Paris, Jerusalem, Algiers, and at the U.S. military’s Special Operations Command. He participated in negotiations on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the Northern Ireland peace agreement, and an end to military rule in Haiti. After retiring from the diplomatic service in 2018, Steve and his wife moved back to Prague, where he had served as the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires until 2016. He now teaches contemporary U.S. foreign policy at AAU.
