Matthew Sweney is a 20+ veteran of the Department of English and American Studies at Palacký University Olomouc where he was the Inter-American Studies Central European Exchange Program for University Studies (CEEPUS) co-ordinator. Recently, he was a researcher on the ERA GENDER-NET Plus project “MASCAGE: Analyzing social constructions of aging masculinities and their cultural representations in contemporary European literature and cinema”, affiliated with Karl-Franzens-Universität, Graz. He translates Czech poetry into English, including works by poets such as Sylva Fischerová, Petr Hruška, Vladimír Metra, Petr Mikeš, Ewald Murrer, Jachym Topol, and Pavel Zajíček.
