O programu

The B.A. in Humanities, Society and Culture: Arts and Society concentration is designed for students interested in the arts and the role of cultural production in society, encompassing the study of art in all of its aspects: philosophical, practical, and historical.

The concentration explores the multiple ways art functions within and relates to different communities, cultures, and constituent audiences. This is a concentration for students interested in arts administration and facilitating artistic and creative projects in education and communities.

AAU encourages students’ self-expression through extracurricular activities. It offers the perfect balance between academic challenges and a friendly environment, as well as the chance to study or intern abroad and gain priceless experience. Beyond the classroom, you can also join student clubs like Model UN and Film Club, discuss current political issues with professors and local experts at an event like ‘Professors in the Pub’ or stop by one of our movie nights or poetry readings in the Library featuring professors and internationally published authors.

Struktura programu

Bakalářské studium humanitních věd, společnosti a kultury je tříleté. K absolvování studia musí studenti získat 90 amerických kreditů (180 kreditů ECTS) absolvováním 30 předmětů.

Graduates of the B.A. in Humanities, Society and Culture: Arts and Society can expect to:

Demonstrate broad knowledge of ideas & issues across the fields of art, literature, film, philosophy, religion, history, politics & sociology, anthropology, and psychology; demonstrate a broad knowledge of the theories, methods, and concepts in these areas.
Use appropriate quantitative and qualitative research methods, concepts and theories
Address and solve moderately complex theoretical and practical issues and problems in changing contexts
Effectively communicate issues, problems, or dilemmas and their solutions
Take effective and responsible action both individually and within a team

Kariérní vyhlídky

Graduates from the Art and Society concentration at AAU thrive in multinational environments and are able to communicate professionally in English to international audiences. With a deep understanding of art’s role in society and culture, you will be uniquely positioned to succeed in a variety of roles.

Possible career paths could include:

Kulturní management: Overseeing programs and initiatives in art institutions, coordinating events and exhibitions, and developing outreach activities.
Arts Reporting: Writing and presenting on arts and culture for print and digital media, using your knowledge of art history and its societal context.
Diplomacie: Using your understanding of international cultures and arts to bridge understanding between nations in diplomatic roles.
Humanitarian Government or Nonprofit Roles: Managing and coordinating arts-focused initiatives in governmental or non-governmental organizations, often with a focus on using arts for social engagement or therapeutic purposes.
Education: Teaching or coordinating arts education in schools or community centers, leveraging your knowledge of how art and society intersect.
Sociální výzkum a publikování: Conducting research on arts and societal trends, or working in publishing roles focused on arts and culture.
Média: Working in various forms of print and web media, such as journalism, digital marketing, or content creation, often with a focus on arts and culture topics.

This degree program also provides a strong foundation for graduate studies in fields related to arts, culture, and society.

Udělená kvalifikace

Udělený bakalářský titul je současně uznáván jako Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) ve Spojených státech amerických podle akreditace AAU udělené WASC Senior College and University Commission a jako Bakalář (Bc.) v České republice podle akreditace AAU udělené National Accreditation Bureau for Higher Education (NABHE). Absolventi si mohou zvolit, zda budou používat titul s americkým post-nominálem nebo českým pre-nominálem.

This concentration is accredited by the Academic Council of Anglo-American University. Its completion will be indicated on the transcript and diploma supplement.
