AAU is a global university with students, faculty, and staff from around the world. Our priority is the wellbeing of our community and we are actively monitoring the situation. This is a follow up to our last update published on March 02, 2020.

The Czech Ministry of Health, in order to protect the population and prevent the spread of COVID-19, has introduced new measures that apply to all AAU students, faculty and staff.

Effective immediately, all persons residing in the Czech Republic who have returned from Italy starting March 7 must self-quarantine for 14 days.  Furthermore, all those returning from Italy must, by telephone or other remote access, notify their doctor or any provider in General Practice or Practical Medicine for Children and Adolescents of their return.

Anyone who has traveled to AAU from any of the locations below anytime in the past 14 days, please notify Ana Hernandez Blackstad, Dean of Students, immediately ([email protected]):

  • China

  • Hong Kong

  • Iran

  • Italy

  • Japan

  • Singapore

  • South Korea

AAU strongly recommends that faculty, staff and students avoid travel to any area that is experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak.

What are the symptoms of COVID-19?

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are fever, tiredness, and dry cough. Some patients may have aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat or diarrhea. These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don’t develop any symptoms and don't feel unwell.

Please help us keep AAU healthy:

  • Do not enter campus if you are ill.  Call your doctor’s office for advice or call the 24-hour hotline of the National Institute of Public Health: +420 724 810 106 and +420 725 191 367

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, especially before eating and after using the toilet. Use of hand sanitizer is also encouraged.

  • Cover your mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing with a tissue – or cough into your elbow. Dispose of the tissue into a bin and then wash your hands afterwards.

  • Maintain at least 1 meter (3 feet) distance between yourself and other people, particularly those who are coughing, sneezing and have a fever.

  • Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth as much as possible.
