AAU is a global university with students, faculty, and staff from around the world. Our priority is the wellbeing of our community and we are actively monitoring the situation. This is a follow up to our last update published on February 25, 2020.

There are now confirmed cases of COVID-19 novel coronavirus in Prague.  The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control maintains case information about the spread of the virus, updated regularly.

On February 28, AAU (along with other universities in Prague) received a letter from the Prague Sanitary Office (HSHMP) relating to COVID-19.

To summarize: any student, faculty or staff member returning from the places listed below must be reported to the Prague Sanitary Office (HSHMP). Based on the decision of the Prague Sanitary Office, appropriate actions will be taken. Anyone returning from these areas is not permitted to attend classes until they have been cleared by the Prague Sanitary Office:

  • China
  • Hong Kong
  • Iran
  • Italy (Emilia-Romangna, Lombardy, Piedmont, Veneto)
  • Japan
  • Singapore
  • South Korea

If you have traveled to AAU from any of these locations anytime in the past 14 days, please notify Ana Hernandez Blackstad, Dean of Students, immediately ([email protected]).

AAU strongly recommends that faculty, staff and students avoid travel to any area that is experiencing a COVID-19 outbreak.

Anyone who has traveled abroad within the past 14 days and is sick with fever and a cough, or difficulty breathing, should call ahead to the hospital, seek medical care immediately and inform hospital staff of recent travel and symptoms.  Prague’s Na Bulovce Hospital is the designated facility for testing for the COVID-19 virus.

What is AAU doing?

What else can you do?

  • Wash your hands regularly with soap and water, especially before eating and after using the toilet. Use of hand sanitizer is also encouraged.
