This past weekend saw the successful implementation of the 2nd International Carey Moot Court. Anglo-American University (AAU) debuted their first first-year Certificate students team against University College Lahore’s somewhat more experienced 1st and 2nd year LLB team who were able to journey to Prague from Pakistan for their first international experience.

The judges, a range of international legal professionals, academics and AAU/University of London graduates, found the competition subject to be a unique and challenging legal scenario which resulted in high quality written memorials and well prepared and eloquently argued oral presentations.

While there is only one overall winner the teams provided each other with challenging and stimulating discourse which was evidenced by less than a dozen points dividing the two teams and represented in the allocation of awards:

Best Team Oral Performance – University College of Lahore (UCL)

Best Individual Speaker Sayed Ali-Hanfeyah , University College of Lahore (Average score 99.25/100)

Best Memorials – Anglo-American University

Best Overall Performance – University College of Lahore

The judges’ remarks reflected a great deal of respect for the level of preparation and commitment exhibited by all participants and encouraged all students to continue on their path as they each exhibited the skills necessary to be a successful lawyer.
