The AAU community came together November 4th-7th, 2019 to participate in the annual Spirit Week events organized by the Student Council.

Students, alumni, faculty, and staff participated in the #AAUSpiritWeek. Run by the university's Student Council, the students not only livened up the campus but also the university social media by covering all the events in a one-week student Instagram takeover. Here is a full breakdown of the fun:

November 4th: Twin Day

Monday the fun returned to campus where students, faculty, and staff were encouraged to find a friend and dress alike for the whole day! The competition was stiff with even our Marketing and Admissions staff taking on the matching challenge. The photos of each pair were posted on Instagram for the whole community to vote for a winner. In the end, the lovely girls wearing black outfits took the prize, but hey there’s always next year!

With over 80 nationalities represented among AAU's student body, International Food Day was surely the most diverse and delicious day of the week. Students prepared dishes from their home countries for everyone to share. Among them were Czech Republic, Korea, Canada, and the winner of the “Most Popular Dish of the Day” award, Georgia!

This year Student Council President Joey Petrilla spear headed AAU's first student faculty debate. The debate was moderated by Joey and the Chair of the Law Program, Carollann Braum. Two teams consisting of 1 student and 1 faculty member argued „FOR“ and „AGAINST“ the motion: Liberal democracy is the worst form of government to combat climate change. The room was surveyed on their positions before the debate with a 60/40 split „AGAINST“ the motion but by the end of the debate the room had been swayed overwhelmingly „AGAINST“ the motion thanks to the persuasive debate arguments. Thank you to all who participated and attended for a proper open exchange of ideas.

Following the debate to unwind the Student Council organized a Neon Golfing Night which took place in beautifully designed entertainment district of Prague. With glow in the dark golf sticks and balls, painted faces and a wonderful mood our students divided into two teams and had fun while trying to one up each other on the golf course.

November 7th: Cool Accessory Day

At the last day of Spirit Week our students were welcomed to come to the university showing their favorite, special and outstanding accessories. Ties, glasses, earrings, socks – everything showed the creativity of our students and their uniqueness in styles.

If you missed out on the action, never fear Instagram highlights are always here! Relive the fun by heading to AAU's Instagram Page to watch the official Spirit Week highlight or visit the AAU Student Council's official Facebook Page to see full photo albums from each event!
