Helena Honcoopova, who teaches Chapters in Japanese Art & Culture this Fall semester for the program in Visual Art Studies, has recently published A Book of Fans by Karolinum Press, Charles University, Prague (2016).

Published in cooperation with the National Gallery in Prague, this book is a unique Japanese illustrated manuscript of ógi no sóshi, a genre of waka poems illustrated in fan-shaped pictures, which blossomed from the late Muromachi to the early Edo period. The Prague Book of Fans, with 120 poems, is the largest such book extant in the world.
