Anglo-American University is once again happy to host our annual Career Expo: one-day, 15+ company and organization booths, six expert presentations, and more!

AAU students and alumni are invited to participate in this year’s Career Expo to meet potential employers, learn about the labor market and its trends, and how their skills and education fit into it to help them develop their own meaningful career path. We will hear about industry trends and professional development from a range of different major industry players related to AAU programs of studies, like Havas, Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty, GoodCall, and more in addition to our special guest speaker Jan Veselý. There will also be one-on-one CV consulting, a speed-interview workshop, and a professional headshot booth. Entry and participation are free for all AAU students and alumni.

10:15 – 11:00, Building Your Professional Profile for the 21st Century with GoodCall, room 2.05

At GoodCall, we bring a fresh approach to talent acquisition. Our proposal utilizes the latest trends in engaging talent via social media, online marketing, mobile and video. We prepared for AAU students and visitors of Career Expo speech about: how students and graduates should prepare, when they would like to find a job LinkedIn – What is it and why should we have it? We will also discuss job possibilities in the Czech Republic for non-Czech speakers.

11:00 – 12:00, Where do you go from and why? with Jan Veselý, room 2.05

Are you searching for meaning? Or do you think your reason for being is far-fetched? Come and be challenged by a guy who does not intend to die in this century to fulfill his. Jan Veselý teaches at Charles University – he leads the Innovation Laboratory at Hybernská Campus. He also coordinates the Alliance for YOUth (CZ), is a founder of EduFórum, member of Red Button’s business ecosystem and co-founder of Changemakers CZ. In the past, he has developed several acceleration programs for social innovation (like Vodafone Foundation Laboratory) and led the Smarter University program in IBM.

12:05 – 12:50,  Creating an Efficient, and Balanced Schedule with Pavel Aleabov from Southwestern Advantage, room 2.05

“The key is not to prioritize what’s on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.”- S. Covey. This workshop helps people understand, and apply ways to schedule their time in a way to have every area of their life in balance, yet still achieve great results. Pavel has his masters in Computer Science and Mathematics from the State University of Moldova and now he is now studying Marketing and Communications at AAU. Pavel is an Associate Sales Leader for the 150-year-old Southwestern Advantage.

13:00 – 14:00, Broadcast Media Industry – New Trends and Challenges with Radio Free Europe/ Radio Liberty, room 2.05

RFE/RL relies on its networks of local reporters to provide accurate news and information to 34 million people in 26 languages and 22 countries where media freedom is restricted, or where a professional press has not fully developed. Its videos were viewed over 2.6 billion times on Facebook and YouTube in FY2018. RFE/RL is an editorially independent media company funded by a grant from the U.S. Congress through the U.S. Agency for Global Media.

Marylin Keating, Head of Human Resources, and her team will introduce RFE/RL and the internship programs available. Carlos Coelho, RFE/RL’s Data/Visual Journalist, will introduce Newsroom’s Digital Team, its role in media organization and the content produced (such as news design, mapping, motion graphics, videos, infographics etc.) Bradley Campbell, Manager of Digital News Archive, will present the role of Archive Units and explain its importance in a media organization. At the end of the presentation, AAU alumna will be present to talk about the experience with RFE/RL internship and the best of RFE/RL work will be mentioned.

14:15 – 15:00, Determining Your Professional Skill Set with Lukáš Macenauer, co-founder of Behavera, room 2.05

How do employers see you? It is hard to tell if you don't get the feedback on your competencies in a work-related context. That can be costly, time-consuming and boring at the same time. Not any more. There is a way how to get your competencies measured and have fun at the same time. Behavera simulations let you demonstrate your competencies in a work-simulation and gives you relevant feedback and advice for future career and self-development. Get to know your assets!  

15:15 – 16:00,  A Skeptic’s Guide to Creating Content That Works with HAVAS Prague, room 2.05

A discussion of Viral Advertising’s influence on consumers within high-pass-along social media Stuart Goodwin, Creative Director at Hercules, the division of Havas Prague focused on international business.

13:30 – 14:30 & 15:00 – 16:00, Speed-interviewing Workshops, room 2.07

Within each speed-interviewing workshop, 5 guest alumni will conduct 5-speed interviews with participating students and give students feedback. Each alumnus or alumna will represent a different industry and workplace culture, so students must adapt themselves accordingly. Each workshop is limited to only 5 participating students.

10:00 – 16:00, CV Lab, room 2.02

CVs on average are read for 30 seconds- that's why it's fundamental to make a good impression with it and also why we want ALL students at AAU to leave with a decent CV to help ensure their potential is met. Bring a printed copy of your CV, and GoodCall will can give you tips and feedback on how to improve it. Plus, you can have a nice professional head-shot taken and emailed to you to use on your CV or LinkedIn profile to help you make a good impression.
