The AAU Student Council

The Student Council (SC) represents students’ interests in programs, plans, policies, and procedures of the university and secures student representation in university governance. The Council is an autonomous body within the university and organizes various student activities. It encourages students’ self-governance. Student representatives sit on the Academic Council. In addition, the Student Council will assist students by acting as a liaison between students and university officials. 

President

The president is the head of the Student Council and presides over Student Council meetings, oversees duties of three committees and officers, as well as represents the SC at all public affairs. The president, along with the vice-president, sets the agenda for meetings and votes in case of a tie; if this is not the case, the president does not vote.

Treasurer

The treasurer keeps an accurate record of the SC's account and expenditures, negotiates any donations to the SC, and critically evaluates and advises the SC's spending.

External Advisor

The external advisor is responsible for advising SC members on their activities. He/she acts as a facilitator and mediator, attends SC meetings, and provides feedback on numerous issues. In addition, he/she develops communication among SC members and facilitates the learning of leadership skills in order to maintain a productive and sociable working environment.
